The agreement between you and SgtZaddy Productions for using Back to One: Self Tape & Coach.
Effective October 7, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SgtZaddy Productions, a California sole proprietorship doing business under that name ("we" or "us"), for your use of Back to One: Self Tape & Coach (the "app"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. We are based in California, in the United States; our postal address is shown with the app's listing on Google Play, and you can reach us at support@sgtzaddy.com. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law of your country gives you as a consumer and does not let you sign away.
The app is for people 13 and older, or the age at which you can agree to this yourself where you live if that is higher. A parent or guardian may set up a child profile for a younger child and is responsible for that child's use of the app. Child profiles are limited by settings the parent controls with the parent PIN, including the rating ceiling, AI voices, ads and purchases, and exporting practice excerpts. To buy anything in the app you must be an adult where you live, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. Do not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, and do not extract or republish the scene library, except where the law gives you a right to that we cannot limit.
The library holds public-domain works and brief excerpts from copyrighted scripts used for acting practice, as described in the Copyright & Fair Use notice. Excerpts are there to be rehearsed, recorded and reviewed in the app, not to replace the works they come from.
Your recordings, notes, profiles and the scripts you write or import stay on your device. Takes are kept only in the app's storage on your phone: we have no copy, and deleting the app or its data deletes them. Export any take you want to keep. You are responsible for keeping copies of anything you want to keep. You keep whatever rights you have in your content. By adding a script you confirm that you own it, have permission to use it, or otherwise have a lawful basis for the use you make of it. We need no rights in your content beyond what the app does at your request, which for AI voices includes sending the reader's lines to be voiced.
Recording or exporting a take does not give you ownership of, or a license to, third-party script material in it. Your personal rehearsal or training use may differ legally from public distribution, commercial use or other uses of the recording. You are responsible for deciding whether permission or another lawful basis is required for what you do with an exported recording.
Basic voices are the voices on your phone. They are free and have no limit. AI voices are computer-generated voices made by ElevenLabs; they are not recordings of real actors, and a take that uses one contains AI-generated audio. AI voices come with All Access and the 3-Day Pass. Three library scenes are AI voice examples: their AI audio is included in the app and plays for everyone. We do not control what a voice service produces, and the voices on offer can change or be withdrawn. When an AI voice is not available, the app uses the nearest AI voice on offer or a basic voice.
With Pro or a Studio day you may instead connect an account of your own at a company you choose (such as ElevenLabs, OpenAI or Google) using an API key from that account, for AI voices and AI script features. Your use of that service is governed by its terms, and you are responsible for its charges.
A Studio day opens every tool for 24 hours. It is started by watching optional ads; the first is free. Studio days and anything earned from ads have no cash value, cannot be sold, transferred or refunded, and are stored on your device, so they are lost if the app's data is deleted. Back to One Pro is a one-time purchase that keeps every tool open and removes ads; it does not include AI voices from us. We may change which features need a Studio day or Pro, and the ads offered, over time, but we will not take away from Pro owners a tool that Pro opened when they bought it without a good reason, such as a legal or safety need or a service we can no longer obtain.
All Access is a subscription, monthly or yearly. While it is active it includes every tool, no ads, and AI voices within a weekly allowance. The allowance is counted in characters of text sent to be voiced. At the date of these terms it is 4,000 characters a week (about fifty lines of dialogue), 1,000 characters in all during free days, and the app shows what is left and when the week starts again. A week runs seven days from the start of the subscription, and what is not used does not carry over. A line already voiced plays again without using the allowance. When the week's allowance is used up, new lines are read by basic voices until it starts again or you buy a top-up. The allowance exists so that no one's use can cost more than the subscription pays for; we may change it for new subscribers, and for existing subscribers we will not reduce it during a period already paid for. Voicing a new line needs an internet connection. Offline, All Access keeps working until the date it is paid through and three days more, and then asks to go online once. All Access is for one person's own rehearsal and self-tapes; do not share it, resell it, or use automated means to draw on it.
If free days are offered when you subscribe, you are not charged during them. Unless you cancel before they end, the subscription then starts and you are charged the price shown when you subscribed. An introductory price lasts for the time shown when you subscribed, after which the regular price shown there applies. Free days and introductory prices are for new subscribers and can be used once. The subscription renews automatically, each month or each year, and your Google Play payment method is charged the price then in effect at each renewal, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions, or from the link in the app; cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal to avoid that charge. After cancelling you keep All Access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
When All Access ends, the tools go back to what you have without it (free, a Studio day, or Pro if you own it). AI lines voiced under All Access stay on your phone but do not play; they play again, at no cost, if All Access comes back. Your takes, including takes recorded with AI voices, are yours and are not affected.
The 3-Day Pass is a one-time purchase that gives everything in All Access for 72 hours from purchase, with an AI voice allowance of 1,500 characters in all at the date of these terms. It does not renew and can be bought again once it has ended. A top-up is a one-time purchase of 8,000 more characters of AI voice for an All Access subscriber. A top-up does not expire while the service is offered, is used only after the week's allowance, and can be used only while All Access is active. Allowances, passes and top-ups have no cash value and cannot be transferred. If we ever end the AI voice service, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app and refund any top-up that is wholly unused.
Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your currency, and include tax where the law requires it. Purchases are processed by Google Play (or the App Store), which takes the payment; we do not receive your card details. If we raise the price of a subscription you already have, you will be told in advance through Google Play and, where the law or Google Play requires it, the new price applies only if you accept it; otherwise the subscription ends at the close of the paid period.
Refunds are handled under the refund policy of the store you bought from and the law of your country. You can ask Google Play for a refund from your order history, or write to support@sgtzaddy.com with your order number. Except where the law or the store's policy says otherwise, payments are not refunded for a period that has started or an allowance that has been partly used. If something you paid for does not work as described, tell us and we will put it right or refund it.
This section applies to you as a consumer in those countries and comes first where it differs from the rest of these terms. Right to withdraw: you may withdraw from a new All Access subscription within 14 days of first subscribing, without giving a reason, and receive a full refund of what you paid for it. To do so, ask for a refund in Google Play or send a clear statement to support@sgtzaddy.com (for example: "I withdraw from my All Access subscription", with your order number) before the 14 days end. We refund within 14 days of hearing from you, to the payment method you used. This right does not start again at each renewal. Pro, the 3-Day Pass and top-ups are digital content supplied the moment you buy: by buying you ask for that immediate supply and acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw once it has begun. Legal guarantee: digital content and services must be as described and fit for purpose under the law of your country, for as long as that law provides; if they are not, you are entitled to have them brought into conformity, or to a price reduction or to end the contract, and nothing in these terms limits that. Liability: we do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intent or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Law and courts: you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. Complaints: write to us first and we will try to resolve it; we are not obliged to take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board and do not offer to. Language: these terms are concluded in English.
The app is offered worldwide from the United States. In Australia our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and in New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea and elsewhere you likewise keep the rights your consumer law gives you and does not allow to be waived, including any right to bring a claim where you live. You may not use the app where doing so would break United States export or sanctions law. Features, prices and offers can differ by country.
We respect the rights of writers and copyright owners. Rights holders can contact support@sgtzaddy.com; our policy is described in the Copyright & Fair Use notice.
We update the app to fix problems, keep it safe and working with new phones, follow the law, and improve it, at no extra cost to you. Voices, scenes and features can change as a result. If a change takes away something important that you are paying a subscription for, we will tell you in the app beforehand, and you may cancel and, where the law provides it, receive a refund for the unused part of the period.
Beyond what these terms promise and what the law requires, the app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no other warranties, including that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, that recordings will be kept, that any voice will remain available, or that using it will lead to any audition or casting result. Nothing in the app is legal advice.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, recordings or profits, and our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim or fifty U.S. dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
You agree to use the app lawfully, and to be responsible for claims that arise from the scripts you add or the way you use or distribute your recordings.
If you got the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms. Google Play's terms apply to apps obtained from Google Play.
We may update these terms for a good reason, such as a new feature, a change in the law or a change in a service we rely on. The effective date above will change, and if the change matters to something you are paying for we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies to you; if you do not agree you may cancel before then. Otherwise, continuing to use the app means you accept the update. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (cancel any subscription in Google Play first). We may end or suspend access to AI voices for someone who breaks these terms, misuses the service or reverses a payment. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable United States law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, except where the law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
